Top 10 7. Chronicle - $7.6M | | A loner (Dane DeHaan) escapes his abusive home life and discovers a mysterious crater that gives him and two fellow high school students psychokinetic powers in this found-footage-style superhero film from director Josh Trank and screenwriter Max Landis. DeHaan plays Andrew, a angsty teen whose mother is dying and whose father takes out his violent frustrations out on the boy. As a result, Andrew starts filming everything around him, including the dreadful night that he, his cousin Matt (Alex Russell) and the soon-to-be senior class president, Steve (Michael B. Jordan), wake up with superpowers after exploring a condemned piece of land housing an unexplained power source. The three bond over their newfound abilities, with Andrew clearly leading the pack in terms of control and strength. Despite their noble intentions, a darker streak appears in one of them as the other two try to take control over a situation that soon spirals into homicidal madness -- all of which is captured on camera. ~ Jeremy Wheeler, Rovi | | 2/21/2012 3:00:00 AM |

Being Flynn | | Film Front Reviews:
Inspired by the poetic memoir "Another Bullshit Night in Suck City," writer-director Paul Weitz's moving, if somewhat maudlin adaptation takes interesting stylistic chances suggested by the virtuosity of its source. | | 2/19/2012 7:00:01 PM |
This Means War | | Film Front Reviews:
This screwball premise lives or dies by the chemistry between Chris Pine and Tom Hardy, who are too busy trying to out-appeal one another to make the buddy dynamic click. | | 2/9/2012 1:00:00 PM |
The Vow | | Film Front Reviews:
Inspired by the case of Kim and Krickitt Carpenter (upgraded to Channing Tatum and Rachel McAdams onscreen), "The Vow" reps that most welcome kind of Valentine's Day offering, focusing on the feelings that bring couples closer. | | 2/7/2012 7:00:01 PM |

Chronicle | | Film Front Reviews:
"Chronicle" cleverly embraces the found-footage format as shorthand for a new kind of naturalism, inviting auds to suspend disbelief and join in the fantasy of being able to do anything with their minds. | | 2/1/2012 8:02:09 AM |

Man on a Ledge | | Film Front Reviews:
Between last year's ill-received drama "The Ledge" and the marginally better, more action-driven "Man on a Ledge," auds may well find themselves craving a movie in which a man threatens to jump off a building for non-gimmicky, genuinely suicidal reasons. | | 1/23/2012 1:00:00 AM |
